Fannin Monument Remains of Co. James Walker Fannin and 400 of his troops massacred following the Battle of Coleto, March 27, 1836, were buried here 3-weeks after the fall of the Alamo by Gen. Thomas Rusk and the Texan Army. About 25 wounded men were saved by a Mexican woman who became known as "The Angel of Goliad."
